The Windesheim Mobility Centre on the campus of the Windesheim Christian University College is a multifunctional building with three swimming pools, a therapy centre and gymnasiums for all residents of Zwolle. The beautiful design by Broek Bakema was a nice challenge.
The swimming pool offers space for two instruction pools (25 x 12.5 meters and 20 x 10 meters) and a therapy pool (15 x 10 meters). In addition to the swimming pools, the sports complex houses a judo room, fitness room, a climbing wall and a treatment centre. The bath not only has an educational function, however, is also accessible for target group, instruction, school and track swimming. Special is the therapy bath, which in addition to its educational function also facilitates swimming schools, health institutions and physiotherapy practices in the region. There was an excellent collaboration with the builder with whom this design was realised down to the last detail.
Broek Bakema's splendid design also appears to provide an extra challenge during the outsourcing process. When everything is properly arranged with the builder, an effective collaboration is created.
Thanks to the offer of Van den Berg Bouwkundigen, the selection was successful. Through a thorough plan of action, we managed to convince the client.
To work for an educational institute like Windesheim is extraordinary. Creating such a sports facility, the underlying budget and the construction with the builder makes it a special task. We are very proud of our work within this project.
